Decent guess! It's in the same culinary tradition but a different part of the Chicagoland area.

Bohemian, not Bavarian (though at first I thought it was a Bavarian place, too). It's over 60 years old.

It's pretty amazing that this place, old as it is, famous as it is in, oh, let's say the Western Suburbs, is almost entirely off chow-dar.

Another hint: restaurant is located on a street that bears the same name as the NSC person who was involved in Iran-Contra and is now a conservative political commentator.

Technically, Mack's Golden Pheasant, but I've conferred with the judges and we're going to accept your answer. If anyone were to guess it, I'd figured it be you, Peter.

    Hi,

I have now passed Golden Pheasant a few times on North Ave, is it any good?

I was there for a high school reunion (Carolyn's) and we had a buffet, which is not a good indicator.

In my experience "unoffensive" is the best description.
Nothing there stands out for either good or bad reasons. I used to take my Grandmother and Mother who grew up in Elmhurst there for Grandma's birthday because she was quite fond of the place, most likely because of the happy memories it held rather than the food.
