Short of schlepping down to the Filbert's Bottling Plant, on S. Ashland, I am not aware of any steady sources of Filbert's Brand Ginger Ale. With that in mind, I give to you Erik M.'s Rough-And-Ready Recipe for Filbert's Brand Ginger Ale At Home.

    You will need:
One can/bottle of Schweppes, or Canada Dry Ginger Ale
5 individual Sour Patch Kids gummies

    Directions:
    1) Open the can/bottle of Ginger Ale.
    2) Jam all 5 gummies into the mouth of the opened can/bottle.
    3) Set in a cool place for 12 hours.
    4) Serve over ice, or as you wish.

You have managed to exactly replicate the taste and carbonation of Filbert's Brand Ginger Ale, at home!

    Cheers,
    Erik M.

Come now, Erik. Half the fun of drinking Filbert's is going down to the plant and building your own case for the ridiculously cheap amount of six bucks

Despite my best efforts, Will, I somehow left you with the impression that I could be bothered with Filbert's product. Sorry about that.

Anyone have info for the Filbert's factory? Is there a store that is open regular hours that you can drop in and buy cases? Are they really only $6??
If so time for a Black Cherry overdose!
Also is there any noteable restaurant to stop at during my trip to Filbert's (like a lunch place for this friday, prefer fast over sit down).
    Thanks-
    Jamie

It has been a while since anybody has mentioned Filbert's factory, so I thought I'd chime in. I made my first ever visit to the factory recently with pdaane. Cases are $9 (still a ridiculously good deal) and you can mix your own. I'm partial to the cream soda.

One of the highlights is their beer can collection. Worth the visit alone:

Before I finally recognized Daane's head in that picture, I thought they had added a 4800 ounce Blue Raspberry soda to their inventory.

You're just jealous. Everyone wants my blue fleecy. I wore it while hiking the Appalachian Trail. By the time I was out of Georgia, it was snug; by the time I hit Virginia it was way too big. Now, I can't put it in the dryer or it won't zip.

    Michael,

My favorite is the Black Cherry, which I have not had in quite a while. I think I'll amble over, but am worried the "blue raspberry" looking guy will still be there, he appears a bit frightening.

    Enjoy,

    Violet is turning violet.

Yes, Ed's Potsticker House is just around a few corners....service is quick, if you ask for it.

    Hi,

Filbert's website does not offer times of operation. Since it was a stop on the 24-hour-athon, perhaps someone is up to date on this?

According to their painted wall sign on the side of their operation, Mon-Fri 8-5, Sat. 9-1. As with so many southside informal institutions, I think these hours are flexible-if there's someone there, they'll serve you. My brother has gone after 1 pm on a Saturday and they've gladly opened up their doors.
