I am apparently the vessel of The Algorithm in being moved to post about the novelty and quality of Popeyes Pickle Lemonade. Most locations have it it, and some also have Frozen Pickle Lemonade. It is refreshingly salty and briny, and sweet but not too sweet, with a real kick of dill and a tang that is shrubby in addition to the citrus.

I think it's going to be a thing like McD's Szechuan Sauce that is only appreciated years after its exit, and I say unto the skies, I was here for it, and uncertain why everyplace else only offers over-sugared commercial pops or weak-brewed iced tea with a backnote of cleaning solvent.

It's so good and my 4-year-old daughter is obsessed with it to the point that she shared a "helpful" plan where I get dinner from somewhere else but then also swing by a Popeyes to get her the frozen pickle lemonade. I hope it stays on the menu forever.

    Hi,

Sonic had a Pickle Juice Slush a few years ago. I ordered a small to try, it was quite sweet and yet quite pickle-tasting. A friend in the car looked up the nutrition profile to find it heavy on sugar, too.

I now have a reason to stop in at a Popeye's, so thanks!

There's a Popeye's right across the street from my usual Fresh Farms in Wheeling, so after the weekly shop, I figured why not try the frozen version? Can't say I fell in love but it certainly was different, and not exactly what I was expecting. I thought it was pretty well balanced between sweet, tart and salty. The frozen component was refreshing. Basically, a novelty slurpee.

Would I get it again? Maybe on a really hot day but probably not. I don't make a habit of drinking sugary beverages and this just felt like too much of that. If I'm indulging in that direction, I'd much rather have a real sugar Mexican coke, poured in sips over ice, but this was a fun diversion.

    Hi,

Over the weekend, I finally tried the Pickle Lemonade. It is far better compared to the Sonic version from a few years ago. Sonic had lots of sugar to overcome the saltiness. Whereas Popeyes was far less salty, so less sugar was needed to overcome the salt. It was more lightly flavored and easier to tolerate.

I ordered from a Popeyes just off of Cicero south of Midway Airport. There was one-size only, which I asked for without ice, for a cost just shy of $4.

I am entertaining the idea of making something like this at home. It is not too far off from a shrub.
