One of the things I love about LTH are the crawl type events. I've been contemplating a more in-depth exploration of one of my favorite stretches of Chicago, Cicero, and Berwyn - 26th Street. What I'm thinking of is starting at 12:30pm and making four or five stops:

    - Two or three in Little Village. Carniceria Aguascalientes for gorditas (although I always stop at the Cicero Avenue location, I'd like to try the 26th Street location), open to suggestion on the others.
    - Troha's (4151 W 26th) for deep fried shrimp and other goodies
    - cheating by a block and getting to Xni-Pec at 25th/Laramie around 3:30pm

There are decent but not tremendous public transportation options - the #60 bus runs from downtown to the Metra station at 26th and Cicero, and there is a park-and-ride lot that should be free on a Saturday. There's roughly hourly Metra service as well.

I will be out of town, but think that this is a great concept and would get in line for a repeat.. We also need a North Avenue-thon West (Amarind, Cafe Laguardia West, Johnnie's, Russell's, then perhaps cutting in for neckbone red sauce Italian in Melrose Park).

Oooh, I'm in for the North Avenue West one as well!

I picked 7/5 because it's one of the only summer Saturdays where I know in sufficient advance that I'll be in town.

I am game as my SO is out of town that weekend. Now all I have to figure out is how to get there by public transportation (transitchicago.com).

From your area, I'd say Metra to downtown and then back out again to Cicero on the BNSF. The question will be whether connection times work or not.

Oh, and I like http://tripsweb.rtachicago.com/ a little better.

This, and the North Ave. thing, sounds like fun, but it's a little far in advance for me. But put me down as a tentative yes.

    Is this still going on?

I may be interested. We have a wedding (to attend, not cater) that afternoon, but maybe we could make the first one or two stops (I never expect really good food at weddings so it's okay to have a bite first).
