According to TribLocal today:
"The group that oversees Evanston’s downtown area is hoping to entice the Viennese coffee house company Julius Meinl to come to town by launching a Facebook page to show the company how much it’s wanted. Downtown Evanston, the organization that markets and manages the downtown business district, encourages residents to 'like' the Facebook page, entitled
“Bring Julius Meinl to Downtown Evanston.” In turn, it hopes the company will be encouraged to open its fourth Chicago-area location at 1700 Maple Ave., the former home of Borders bookstore. The company’s coffee, food, and live entertainment would be an 'excellent addition' to a downtown area that is currently exploring the creation of an arts and entertainment district," according to the group....
Just yesterday, I had my memory refreshed as to how good Julius Meinl coffee is, as I enjoyed a cup at an Evanston Lunch Group gathering at Creperie Saint Germain. Of course, there are already a lot of coffeehouses in Evanston, but I wouldn't object to one more if it was Julius Meinl.
