Sauce and Bread Kitchen - Edgewater

Fairly new breakfast/brunch/lunch place near Clark and Devon. Has anyone tried it out yet?

I've heard good things, and they seem to have positive reviews online. I'm surprised by the 10am open time, but I may check it out this weekend for a late breakfast.

Bonus: I also read that the owners are involved with after-school arts programs for kids.

Been several times and like it fine. One of the better things I had was a biscuit with cauliflower gravy, but I'm sure that's no longer offered; I've also been pretty happy with the soups (which come in rather generous portions, enough for a whole lunch). They try to source good ingredients and it generally shows. Mike Sula raved about the grilled cheese, which I have yet to try.

I saw this place (which I think is technically in Edgewater) and wondered what it was all about. Interesting concept.

I've been several times - they have a limited menu, but always a special sandwich or two. Everything I've had has been very good (the tamarind smoked turkey sandwich is great, so is the grilled cheese when they have it). It is somewhat high priced for the area, but very tasty, and a lot of care is taken in preparation. The sandwiches come with a small side salad, so that mitigates some of the cost. The baked goods that I've tried have also been very good.

I had a wonderful brunch at Sauce and Bread. Sampled the breakfast sandwich (maple sausage, feta, egg on a crumpet), the Croque-monsieur, and a wonderful pear tart. Also sampled a lot of hot sauces, of course. Loved every bite and very excited to get back.

I can't believe I've lived around the corner in Edgewater Glen for 4 1/2 years and had not yet heard of this place before today. I guess I'll be making a visit there soon.

I'm a fan of their SBK roast coffee beans done for them by Dark Matter Coffee. A great one-two punch is food from SBK eaten next door at the Norse, a bar with excellent beers.

Sauce and Bread Kitchen holds Pizza Haven on the first Friday of the month with 100% of the profits going to a designated charity. Dine-in for $20 (pre-sale) or $25 at the door for family style pizza slices, a leafy green salad and a dessert. BYO. Or, order your pizza to go. In our case, we staked out a couple of tables at the Norse. The folks at S&BK were nice enough to let us take some of their plates and they delivered the pizzas to us. Three veggie options (Fried kimchi/gochjang/yaki soba; Apple/cheddar/smoked carrot; Cheese) and two "meatza" (Burnt ends and white bbq; Taco pizza: carnitas/chiahuahua cheese/black beans/salsa macha/greens.) We had the "meatzas." They know their way around baked goods and bread and it showed in the quality of the crust. The burnt ends/white bbq za was the winner, but the taco pizza was tasty as well.

SBK is having a two week pop-up called Bun Pow Buns. This past Sunday sold out but there's still a chance to get in on the next round. We ordered one of each kind along with the special dessert of passionfruit pavlova. Descriptions are from their site. The buns were nicely done. We loved the char siu filling. The beef stew needed something to perk it up. I was a bigger fan of the radish cake than Mr. X was. The dessert was AMAZING. I picked our order up around noon and gently reheated the buns (without the pickles) in the microwave for supper. I don't think they suffered much by doing that. This was a fun meal.
