Surprised to find no thread on this place, after the nice Sula treatment (great photos too). I was dining alone so didn't get to try much. They offer a mole combo, split between the pumpin-seed-based pipián verde (with a poultry leg) and a dark red mole (with minced meat). If the texture looks off on the pipián verde, that's just the photo; it was smooth and rich. Simple, airy dining room and friendly service. Handmade tortillas are great. Need to go back to try the quesadillas and weekend dishes.

Agree, El Sabor Poblano is a nice place. Comfy, airy, bright with friendly informed service and tasty food. Mike's recommended pipián verde was not ready for the day's service, cup of white corn atole with a side of melty soft pumpkin, picaditas and grilled pambazo made for a delicious early lunch. #lowslowbbq #countmeafan

On our list to try. Appreciate the photo above indicating cash only.
This is becoming more and more common, and it is sure nice to know before heading to a meal out, thanks!

We went for lunch yesterday (Sunday) at Sabor Poblano and were very impressed. The food was quite different from standard Mexican restaurant fare, with specialties from Pueblo as the name suggests. Service was friendly and attentive, and there were lots of families with young children. We had picaditas, one red and one green, for starters -- like sopes (thick tortillas) with salsa, onions, and cheese. They were very tasty, though on the spicy side, with a light but not negligible kick. We had the mole verde, a chicken leg with delicious green pepian mole, along with rice and tamales de ceniza -- flat rather than stuffed tamales flavored with herbs and great for picking up the mole sauce. We also had one of the weekend specials, guasmole, a soup of beef and squash in a green colored broth; the color comes from the distinctive herbs in the broth. The food, I repeat, is quite different from the usual menu, and is very reasonably priced. Note that they only accept cash.
We definitely want to go back to try more items on the menu, especially (but not only) weekend specials.
