My soft drink of choice is Diet Dr Pepper Cherry Vanilla. Unfortunately only certain Jewels carry it and it became somewhat of a scavenger hunt trying to find it. Halsted Homewood,South Chicago Heights,95th & Stony Island, and the Jewel around 71st and Stony Island carried it.
When the pandemic started and there were no sales I stopped buying it. Trying to stay ahead of Covid 19 I decided that eliminating soda and drinking water instead might be a good idea. I rarely drink soda anymore and I do not regret my decision at all.

I don't drink anywhere near as much pop. I usually don't drink it in the wintertime, and the last few years I have been buying cans of sparkling water when it is on sale. I did buy 4 2-liter containers of diet pop when it was on sale last month at Jewel for $.39, but I just opened up my second bottle, and so this is probably all I will get this summer. In general the 2-liters are cheaper, but they are not as recyclable as the cans are. If I run out of pop before the summer is over, and I don't run into a good deal on sparkling water, I will fix some peppermint tea and chill it I am also a coffee drinker too all year long, and in the wintertime I drink herb tea instead of pop, I have never seen cinnamon coke.

Concerning your inability to get the sale flyer delivered to your address, you know you can see the sale flyer on Jewel's website every week, and they send me an email with all of my J4U offers for the week.

Everyone I grew up with in Minnesota called it pop, but my 36 first cousins in Milwaukee all said soda or sometimes even sodi which sounded crazy to our young ears...

When I was growing up in Michigan our family always used the word pop. Somehow soda bottle does not sound right to me. Maybe it is a Michigan thing. If I still lived in Michigan, I would not want to buy lots of cans of pop because there is a ten cent deposit on them, and hopefully it has changed lately, but there for at least two months after the pandemic hit in Michigan, you got charged deposit on all of the cans, but the Governor was not allowing people to return the cans and bottles to get their money back. Most of the grocery stores there have machines that you put your cans in, and it counts them and crushes them, and then at the end it gives you your money I think. You might have to go to CS to get your money. I have not done this for two years. You can only put in one can at a time though, and so if you have a lot of cans you are there for 30 minutes.

Count me in the "pop" category.
When I was little (a long time ago) my grandparents would only serve Kosher items on holidays, and the only soft drinks were "rrrred pop" and "ghrrreen pop"(as my great grandma would say). Later there was RC and Diet Rite; Kosher Coke was much later.

Apparently, Coca Cola has been kosher since 1935, not clear when Kosher for Passover Coke became available. We may not have had it at holidays due to other colas being cheaper.

Has anyone seen the rainier cherries at Jewel yet this season? I like them better than I do the black ones, although I have gotten really good black ones at Whole Foods a few years ago when they were on sale for $2.99. I can get really good black ones at the farmers market too, and at my sisters farm, but she is done picking cherries. Most of her sweet cherries were upicked in one day last week, She only had 25% of a crop.

Jewel never seems to have good Western black cherries even though they are on sale right now for $2.88. I did buy a pint of Queen Anne's at the farmers market on Saturday, but they were $6 a pint.

Anybody have any good Washington cherries on sale right now? The only places that are convenient for me are Valli, Whole Foods, Jewel and Aldi.

Not personally but both my mom and my sister bought some for me at the Highland Park Jewel when they were shopping there. And I have to say that they were spectacular -- probably the best sweet cherries of any variety that I've had in years. I'm sorry I don't know the price because both of them refused my offer to pay them back. I also don't know if they're still in stock. They tend to come and go throughout the season.

I've heard that pop manufacturers are not producing as many different kinds of pop right now, and so that is why you can't find your favorite one. If you are looking for cherry coke zero right now, you are out of luck. They are only making the basic ones right now.

I've not heard but have experienced it myself. If I am going to drink SODA cherry coke zero is my preference.

Our niece and nephew stayed over for a few days, his SODA consumption is off the charts, mainly diet coke. Since I was buying SODA anyway I looked for my fav, none to be found in three or four of the usual places.

Apparently there is a shortage of aluminum cans too because more people are drinking beer and pop at home instead of going out to have it. I think part of the problem is that most of the states that charge a deposit on cans were not allowing grocery stores to accept returns. Michigan has a ten cent deposit on bottles and cans, but they did not allow grocery stores to take returns until a few weeks ago, and most grocery stores have a limit on how many you can return at one time right now.
