It's great but I don't think they open until 11 a.m. OP said he wanted something that was open at 8 a.m.

I dig the breakfasts at Taqueria San Juanito, by far my favorites of their offerings. They open at 10am daily, which eliminates, as Alan mentions, from the OP's request.

My favorite breakfast at Taqueria San Juanito is Huevos San Juanito. Over easy with rice, beans, napoles and cecina. Couple of grilled jalapenos for good measure.

Chavas Taco El Original is pretty darned good and they're open 24 hours. They also have a patio, which could be nice for the next few weeks . . .

Not located in your desired area and only open for takeaway, but I would go to Birrieria Zaragoza. They are open at 8:00 on weekends.

This topic brings back good memories. In the late 80's, early 90's there was a pub called Mindy's on the Strand in Waukesha (today that location is JR's on the Strand). It was owned by the Mindeola Family and the cook was the matriarch, Ophelia. Everyday she had a lunch special, no menu. On Sunday mornings though, the best breakfast I have had (numerous times). Started with her Menudo, then to a plate of heaven. She would have two eggs easy over on top of tortilla's, pinto beans done well, a potato/chorizo type hash, and a big chunk of pork that had been cooked overnight in a good red sauce, which also covered the eggs. Side of onion, cilantro, and tortilla's. Have not been able to match this since. Sometimes you have the best without knowing it at the time. Man that was good stuff and she was good at making it.
