Assuming she has a smartphone, all she needs is the Jewel app. Everything is stored on the app, including Just 4 U. Offers and rewards are automatically downloaded into the app. Open the app when you walk in the store. All of the stores have free WiFi in case she needs to check for current offers.

Yes she does have a smart phone. I will have to tell her that. I told her that I pull up my J4U account on Wednesdays to see what personalized deals I have, and then I do it again right before I leave to go to Jewel. I only pull up my account maybe twice a week, since I don't go to Jewel nearly as often due to the pandemic. Thanks, Nancy

Did anybody get the $.99 wine? Is it any good? Apparently most stores are out of it, and not every store is giving a raincheck. On a Facebook group that I post on, somebody bought 36 bottles of wine. It sounds like she went through the line 6 times, and used a different J4U account each time. Somebody else said at her Jewel store they had to call the police this morning because people were fighting over the wine.

I didn't buy it because I didn't feel like driving to Homewood to purchase it due to Indiana's idiotic liquor laws. I'm glad I passed as I've heard nothing good about it. When people tell you they don't even want to cook with it,it's got to be pretty bad.

I got the chicken, a loaf of bread for 49¢, and the Barilla Vera Gusto Pasta sauce. The pasta sauce was empty on the shelf but a little hunting around revealed someone had hidden a few jars in the back at the other end of the section - sneaky.

When Valli Produce had a one day sale a few years ago, they had Quaker oatmeal really cheap, and all of the boxes of it I picked up had $.75 coupons attached to them, but I got the last three they had. I then had to go to the bathroom a few minutes later. I got back to my cart and my oatmeal was gone. I could not believe it. I don't know if Jewel gives rain checks on the pasta sauce or not.

It's been my experience at the Jewel I frequent that they will substitute the product with something else.

I passed on the chicken breast. It didn't look appealing to me, even for 99 cents. My Jewel (Broadway and Berwyn in Edgewater) was not giving rainchecks for the 99 cent Barefoot Cellars wine. I'd have to be desperate to drink Barefoot Cellars.

I've heard that Jewel is supposed to give rainchecks on the wine. On a Facebook group I belong to somebody posted about her haul of 36 bottles of wine which got a lot of response because there is supposed to be a limit of 6 bottles. The whole thread has since been taken down. She gives wine away for the holidays.

Rainchecks were given out solely at the discretion of the manager of each store. A lot of people on Twitter were unhappy and I can't say I blame them. I heard the problem is that after the sale ended today Jewel won't get reimbursed for any bottles redeemed by rainchecks.

They are helpful on Twitter too. One person posted a picture of their raincheck and it wasn't on Jewel's normal raincheck pad. Instead it was a preprinted form specifically for the wine. I can understand people being upset after seeing that.

I'd hope the Jewel employees have footage of the ppl "fighting" over the crappy 99c wine, so they can laugh a little more at the general public. Maybe they have an internal TikTok style app that they can play on a loop in their breakroom, where the different stores all post video clips.

I got another j4u free 1.5qt Sig Select ice cream coupon. I'll try to collect on it again. Last time, they conveniently did not substitute any other flavor for my pickup. This time, I wrote in the notes that "ANY flavor 1.5qt would be a great sub."

    This is getting personal.
I may have to step foot in that place, and get it myself.

I always find it interesting these free Saturday samplers are the companies putting out new food items to the market to gather interest by consumers by follow-up purchases. From my informal observation I rarely see these 1 off new items back on the shelf for sale a month later (after the freebie).

Yes, I took the roasted red pepper variant. I like it, though the price is close to $5. I looked up to find there are a number of recipes on dip made with cauliflower.

I never thought of cauliflower dip before.

    Cauliflower Dip:
I got the Jalapeno Cilantro flavor.
It should just be called Cilantro/Lime. It's nicely citrus-y, and cilantro-y. No jalapeno notes at all - not even like a jalapeno essence. I cracked it open to use as a sauce for some falafel sandwiches. I like it. Would never even think of paying for it, however.
