Taqueria el milagro ( carne guisado)

One of my favorite Mexican restaurants the city. Lots of good stuff tamales tacos de carne asada , cilaquilles and pollo en mole stand out , but the carne guisado has always been a favorite. Hard for me to pass it up if it’s there. Have tried to replicate this at home with no success . It’s an almost perfect winter dish. As the weather cools, thought I’d share this .

Can you describe what this is? Tomato based? Broth based? Tomatillo based? Chile Based? I'm guessing it's a generalized name of a dish, "meat stew." Usually carne means beef if it's not specified, so my guess would be a beef stew of sorts?

Buddy of mine swears by the carne asada at El Milagro, maybe the one closer to 18th tho. not entirely sure.
