Really enjoyed my first trip to 016 tonight. The food was delicious and impeccably prepared to order. These first two items were included with our main course . . .
LepinjaLight, fluffy and hot -- right out of the oven.
FriesNot the greatest ever but like most fries, crispy and fine until they cooled off.
Sample Platter - Mesano MesoChievapi, meatballs, smoked sausages, chicken thighs, smoked pork loin. My companion advised that this was all we'd need and wow, was he right. The aggressively seasoned chicken thigh had a beautiful charred crust and was quite moist. That was probably my favorite item but there was nothing here I didn't enjoy or wouldn't order again separately. Up top is the cabbage salad, a delicious, lightly vinegared take on slaw.
Bureks are made to order and require a 35 minute lead-time. As such, ours came out last and was well worth the wait . . .
Spinach & Cheese BurekBeautifully light and crusty layers of pastry with a gooey, piping hot filling of mellow cheese and tender spinach.
This place is quite a gem. The food was great, straightforward (not gimmicky or fussed over) and was served in perfect condition. I know I'll be back and I know who I'll ask to join me. Also, I have to say that seeing the
menu board (opens .pdf) in their attached (daytime) sandwich shop had me plotting a recent visit . . . hopefully, soon.
