Walking down Western Avenue this afternoon I noticed that the windows were papered over. Checking further, both Google and Yelp show as permanently closed, Facebook page says closed for all hours and website is gone.
Maillard Tavern, the burger joint that Piccolo Sogno co-owners Tony Priolo and Ciro Longobardo opened in 2017, will be closing at the end of the month, Priolo says. The restaurant is another casualty of the two-years-and-counting pandemic; its last day of service will be next Saturday, May 28.

Golden Nugget, 4229 W. Irving Park Road, was once one of the chain’s 24-hour spots, long popular with the breakfast and late-night crowds, neighbors said. It first opened in 1970.
But the hours changed to 6 a.m.-10 p.m. about five years ago, and business hasn’t returned to pre-pandemic levels, owner Cathy Guzman said. She also said the restaurant only employed about five people, and she had trouble finding new workers.
Guzman closed the location Sunday and is looking to lease the space to someone else, she said.
Golden Nugget Pancake House opened in 1966 and has four remaining locations at 2406 W. Diversey Ave., 3959 W. Diversey Ave., 3001 N. Central Ave. and 1765 W. Lawrence Ave.

Or, maybe somebody opened the joint trying to cash in on the success of Chicago Ramen, and now he's buying them out?
I guess we'll know on 5/23.

Chicago Sushi, 574 E. Oakton St., will have its grand opening June 20.
As the saying goes, all good things must come to an end. Pub Royale will be closing its doors for good on Saturday, June 25th.
This announcement is extremely bittersweet for us. While we sad to say goodbye, we’re also immensely proud of what we’ve accomplished over the past seven years.
The next two weeks will filled with classic pub items, the return of some old favorites, and probably more Dressed Hamm’s than we can count. So swing by, get your Royale with Cheese Fix and show our AMAZING staff some serious lovin’.
Thank you to all the guests and staff who have been a part of our journey. We couldn’t have done it without you.
Love always + forever,
Pub
