A buddy of mine has mentioned this place on more than one occasion. Top notch wood fired pizza. Salads and sandwiches are supposed to be good too. Let's check it out on the 26th.

I should be able to do it. I have been there twice and it is quite good. For some reason Slyce has been our go to place for that style pizza.

I frankly was underwhelmed the one time I tried it, also colored by Dolinsky raving about it, but I should be there to have my mind changed!

Is it a bad sign when no one comments on the food or posts pictures?

This place is not convenient for me but I'm checking if I interpret the signs correctly.

Actually, we enjoyed it quite a bit. Pictures are too difficult to post on here.

But, we started out with a great Caesar salad for the table. That was followed by two thin Napolitan pizzas, a Margherita, and a Meat Lover's, both well done. They were good not great, and we decided their thin is not quite up to the quality of Slyce, down the street in Vernon Hills and in Wauconda.

However, their 'Motor City' Detroit-style pizza, 'The Works', was very, very good. Maybe a tad too high on the crust, but it was also well-done, and that caramelized the corners quite nicely without them getting hard.

I would go back for the De-troit-style, prob not for the others.

I agree with Jay’s comments. The thin crust was nothing special. The salad and Detroit pizza were top notch.

I’m a Slyce virgin. So I have no point of reference. Might need to rectify that.

I agree with the above. There was a definite wood oven flavor coming through on both styles. I like Slyce better of the thin, but I would not hesitate to order it again if I went for the Detroit. I agree on the crust thickness on the Detroit, though it was not as much of an issue as it appeared that it would be, light and crispy enough that the thickness didn't really matter to me.

There is also a Slyce in Highwood.
