Oops, the various fruits and veggies I listed as 99 cents (apples, celery, green beans, cauliflower, watermelon cup) are actually 69 cents this week.

Also, the Bright Farms 4oz salad blends are scanning as 2 for 99 cents due to a cucumber coupon error. Make sure to load the coupons and check before you buy, because they could fix this anytime.

I don't list the J4U deals separately because anyone concerned about saving money at Jewel will have a computer or a friend willing to load the coupons. But be aware that the coupon deals often have a limit and usually disappear after being used once.

The $0.69 avocados are definitely an online/app coupon price. They were much smaller than usual last night in Wilmette. Luckily the organic were the same price ($1.99) for non-app customers and better sized.

I believe I am approaching a lifetime supply of Fabuloso. It is priced at $6.99, then $3 off sale price and $3 off Just4U coupon, for a final price of 99 cents.

Maybe some will end up as a present. Yes, I will well deserve the rolling eyes.

The Round Lake Beach Jewel also had boneless chicken thighs @ 99¢/# yesterday. That particular location often has additional unadvertised specials - it competes vigorously with the Tony's across the road.

The breasts were the usual suspects, about 18oz per half. Lately I haven't found those massive ones to be woody, though

This is a terse message. I got to Jewel-Osco today. I intended to buy Campbell's Chunky Soup from its "Buy 2, get 3 free" scheme.
Recall the week of 4-10 December, when Tony's had a sale on Chunky Soup where one can (and only one can) cost $1.49 (digital)? If I had bought more than one can, they would have cost $1.99.
So since I believed Jewel and Tony's are typically close together on each's regular price for sale items; 10 cans [the maximum] @ 1.99 would have cost $7.96.
If Jewel's regular price was as much as 2.49 each, that would have brought the total to $9.96. I would have accepted that price.

Jewel's regular price this week for Chunky Soup is 3.99.
I highly suspect the regular price had been artificially marked UP sometime in the near past to make the B2G3F seem like a good deal.
But there was no way I was paying 3.99 a can for it.

What prevented the trip to Jewel from a complete catastrophe was an unpublicized sale on J J's lunch box pies: 50¢ each in multiples of two. The store @ 4660 W. Irving Park stocked only three varieties: Apple, Cherry, & Lemon. I would be willing to bet these are the same pies being sold at Aldi in different packaging for 85¢ (and only in apple [mostly] and cherry). I bought twelve: 6 cherry, 4 apple, 2 lemon.

Tuesday, I will go to the Jimenez @ Belmont & Lockwood. I will buy bowls of the Maruchan 3.49-oz. bowls for 89¢. But the actual reason for going there is to scarf the Jimenez 2025 calendar. I hope they have not run out of stock. Jimenez's sale is through the 31st.

Yesterday, I was at my local Jewel. I overheard an older woman inquiring how much a product cost if there was no digital coupon.

I inserted myself into the conversation advising that Jewel claims they will accommodate older people who do not use or have access to digital coupons. She should talk to the manager up front the get the price adjusted.

I went about my shopping when I was asked if I had talked to this woman. He was happy I told her to go to the management, because he felt it was unfair how these digital coupons were affecting older people who don't use online technology.

I advised I have been talking to the local library about setting up a program to assist these people. Maybe I need to talk to the senior center, too.

    My grocery mitzvah.

    Regards,

Today at Jewel they are having a one day spaghetti sale. The only thing I am probably going to get is the grated parmesan cheese for $1. There is a limit of two. They are also having Brownberry Italian bread on sale, and some filled pasta shells and a few other things.

I just came back from the Jewel on Chicago Ave. I ended up getting two of the grated parmesan cheese, and three of the packages of ravioli. I also got a half gallon of Kemp's eggnog that was 75% off. I got charged regular price for it, and so I had to go to customer service. I got four of the B1G1F Healthy Choice frozen dinners and two of the Ami Lu chicken sausage that were on sale for $3.99. The cheese and ravioli came off without a hitch, but it does not come off until you hit the cash out button.

I might go back and get the Tide detergent and some toilet paper. Both of those you get the 6 times the J4U points for buying them and they are on sale. The Tide is on sale for $9.99, and there is a $3 off J4U coupon for it. Starting Wednesday, they are going to have Brownberry bread for $2.99, and the mini Home Run Inn pizzas for $1.88. There is a limit for the pizza, but I cannot tell what it is

My favorite is when they have “Buy one, get two free” baby back ribs for $9.99 lb - when every other store has them on sale for $2.99 lb no strings…
