I'm going to be planning a Dim Sum brunch for about 40 people - 20 of them children and I would like to be able to have a private room so the kids can run amouck. I've been to Furama, like the food but it's too far from being able to walk around afterwards. So I'd prefer something in the heart of Chinatown. I can't stand the Phoenix & I don't think they have a room big enough to accommodate anyway.

    Any ideas?? Thank you.

I have no bright ideas for you-but I am curious- why you dislike Phoenix?
    I love animals...they're delicious!

Phoenix is the obvious choice in their (sometimes) private room on the west side of the restaurant. Too bad you don't like it.

Three Happiness does menu dim sum. The entire restaurant's capacity is 40 people, which means you are closing the restaurant for your private party.

Dusting off an old thread...I'm looking for private room ideas in Chinatown for a departmental dinner of 30-35 in December. Doesn't need to be dim sum. I don't think our group will be too adventurous. Bonus if you can also point me to your favorite karaoke place in Chinatown.

Lao Sze Chaun has an upstairs room that might work. They can probably whip up an orange chicken or something like that for your non-adventurous colleagues along with the cold chopped rabbit for the more so. Think I sat up there back around 2003 with Gary, Hammond, Rob and some of the others when the Chowhound departure was announced or close. Good room.

(New) Furama has lots of private space capabilities, and dumplings work for even the milder tummies out there, though more New Chinatown (Bridgeport) than actual Chinatown.

Not sure about Karaoke - is that a thing in Chinatown?

Edit: I see Furama was mentioned in the orignial thread. Maybe not walkable but close to 94!

The Phoenix has a nice size side room they can close off for parties. I remain a fan of their dim sum.
