    Hey now!

So who else got out to see this phenom. this morning?

Emma and I got out to the lake around 5:20-5:25 am, I let
her loose on the dog beach, and I tried the pinhole viewer (didn't work)
and the thing with binoculars focusing on some paper (didn't work) and
said "well, there are bound to be people closer up toward campus
(Northwestern)" and about 15 yards on there was a guy with high-
powered binoculars and a full-sun filter. So first I saw through his
binoculars, then another 25 yards up there were guys with a similar
setup mounted on a tripod, so I saw through that. They also had a big-
ass telescope, but were having trouble getting it to do what they wanted.

So anyway, it was cool :)

    From the Trib: ... 952239.jpg
"The spectacle of tiny Venus passing across the face of the sun is seen
through a telescope in Hong Kong on June 8. The transit occurs when
Venus passes between the Earth and the sun, an event which last
occured in 1882 and will next occur in 2012."
