I hope no one reading this here needs to take advantage of this offer personally, but you may know of people who do.... :(

Fluky's on Western to Serve More Than 400 lbs of Turkey to Disadvantaged Kids on Thanksgiving Day
Complimentary dinner is an annual celebration hosted by owners Larry and Randee Estes

Fluky's on Western, (6821 North Western Ave., Chicago; 773-274-3652), long known for serving Chicago-style Vienna hot dogs, will once again reach out on Thanksgiving to those who deserve it the most: disadvantaged children throughout the Chicago area. On Thanksgiving Day the hot dog eatery will serve its annual complimentary Thanksgiving dinner -- including more than 400 pounds of turkey -- to Chicago children who would otherwise not be able to enjoy this special feast of the season. They're looking to serve between 400 and 500 meals. Dinner is by reservation only and will be served from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 24.

The Thanksgiving Dinner is complimentary -- by reservation only -- to anyone who qualifies to bring their children to this special meal. Seating is limited, so those interested in attending should call the Fluky's on Western Thanksgiving reservation hotline at (773) 989-4488.

The 400 pounds of turkey won't be the only dish on the menu, of course. All the Thanksgiving fixings will be there, including 150 pounds of stuffing and Eli's Cheesecake. For an appetizer? Mini-Vienna hot dogs of course!

Owner Larry Estes and his wife Randee have been serving this special Thanksgiving dinner to Chicago's disadvantaged children for 7 years. "It's an annual event we look forward to every year," said Estes. "There is nothing more rewarding than to see hundreds of young, smiling faces enjoying a great Thanksgiving dinner. It's one way we try to give back to Chicago every year and we get so much enjoyment from the experience." Larry and his wife, also owners of Max's Italian Beef and Catering by Max's, do all of the cooking. Their friends and family will server the guests. Fluky's is closed to the public on Thanksgiving day.

For more information or to make reservations for Thanksgiving Day, please call the Thanksgiving reservation hotline at (773) 989-4488.

    Hi,

Free Thanksgiving dinners are offered to needy people at the Full Moon in North Chicago.

The owners are Greek immigrants who offer this dinner as their expression of thanks for what this country offered them.

My understanding is that Fluky's circulated a press release, and that's how many people have learned of the event. Myra Estes, Larry's mother, is a neighbor of mine and I was speaking with her about the dinner, yesterday. She told me that they're expecting 500 people. She also told me that Randee, Larry's wife, does all of the cooking of the turkey . . . and portioning of the food, hereself. They're a very generous family.

I stopped by Full Moon last night to learn the turkey dinner is free to any one who requests it. However, drinks, soup, salad and dessert are available at menu prices.

    Hi,

While Fluky's on Western is no more, beyond that I have no idea whether that disadvantaged kids meals continues at a new location.

The free Thanksgiving dinner at the Full Moon is still on board.

    Regards,
